28/03/10 Updates
Fixtures for 2010 now available on the Match Sheet.
As from 01/04/10 there will also be some changes to the constitution. These changes are available to view now, see section 8.
19/09/09 Bridge on Raby Mere
Until further notice the bridge on raby mere will be out of use until further action so repair and maintaince work can be carried out

In keeping with the work being carried out on our waters, we felt it was time to update the website also.
19/10/2008 Work Carried out on Work Party
11 members attended. Due to the windfall of leaves that occurs at this time of year and as a result of advice re the amount of leaves falling in ponds, the team spent a lot of time clearing floating leaves from ponds on main group and generally tidying around the swims. Further overgrown vegetation was cut back and stacked for future burning.
21/09/2008 Work Carried out on Work Party
Due to Holidays only 9 members attended. Raby Mere given attention. The “concrete” swims 1/3/5 cleared of the masses of overgrown vegetation, all swims checked and the vegetation cleared from steps and pathway especially behind pegs 14 to 18. All previously collected vegetation and cut bushes burned at designated burn site. A very good job done by those attending.
17/08/2008 Work Carried out on Work Party
11 Members including 1 Junior attended. Due still to lack of material and numbers it was decided to leave the rebuild of swims on the Carp pond till later in year. No noted complaints from members using the pond now water levels have fallen. One new member to work parties attended, Paul Owens. Yet another wet Sunday. Attention paid to Roadside pond which needed cutting back at request of several members who fish these ponds. Due however to both hedge cutters failing to work it was left to the strimmer to clear grass around the pathways. There was also a considerable amount of “Cabomba” pond weed removed from the first Roadside pond with the aid of the boat. Swims inspected, appear safe. No major work at present required. Large pile of previously cut and pulled vegetation, branches, and Ragwort, stacked and left to dry at the burn site on the Bream/Clover burned and cleared. Review of Tench and Ditch ponds undertaken re future work. Work noted for future attention. Newly cut peg in corner of rear pond requires a front and step rebuild. Cutting back of vegetation to afford access around ponds still required.
20/07/2008 More Work Carried out
16 Members including 1 Junior member Attended. This included a new member who has not yet fished the waters. Bernie Parker. David (land owner ) had requested the removal of the Ragwort from the area of our ponds. Every one briefed re Heath and safety and handling of the plant. After a wet start, work began on the main group. A considerable amount of the Ragwort plant, in flower, was dug up from the May/June, Misty/Bream/Clover and Tench Ponds. This was stacked at the burn sit on the Bream/Clover ready for future destruction by fire when conditions appropriate. Mowing, trimming and strimming around all paths of the main group was carried out. All cuttings also cleared and stacked ready for future burning. Several large clumps of Lilies were dragged out from pegs 4A and 6 on the Misty to open up the swims. These, along with others from other overlarge groups were re located around the margins. Work concluded around 11:45. Work Noted that Still Requires Attention. Rebuild Peg 6 which is beginning to undercut on the left of the swim. More Backfill of soil on pathway Pegs 7, Bream and 3 to 6 Clover Ponds.
17/06/2008 Work Carried out on Work Party
17 Members including 1 Junior member Attended. Attention was directed to the Carp Pond that requires a lot of work on the swims. Work began to raise the path level on the corner between pegs 8 & 9. Flags were dug in to retain future backfill. The narrow sloping pathway between pegs 2 & 3 on the opposite corner of the pond was widened and the bank retained with two large sleepers and scaffold poles. A general cutting back and mowing of the grass was carried out. Some general tidying up and attention was also given to the ponds of the main group. Bad weather stopped play early.
18/05/2008 Work Carried out on Work Party
18 Members including 2 Junior members Attended. Clover pond. Swim 1 rebuild Completed. Clover pond. Swims 13 & 14 rebuild. Completed Clover pond. Start to rebuild swims 3 & 6. Clover pond. Chipping spread along pathway behind pegs 4 to 5 Grass around main group, Mowed and Strimmed and mowed. Bushes around Clover and Bream Ponds Trimmed. Grass around Carp Pond Strimmed. Water Pump in Bream pond on Peg 3 Wire mesh stapled to exposed wooden surfaces of sleepers and telegraph poles on steps for safety. Main Group. Hinges on the Gate on the Newby repaired to prevent the problems encountered last season when the cows got in.
